The Centre for Quality Assurance in Aerospace, Defence and Security education and training (QADS) is a sector specific voluntary Quality Assurance body responsible for the assessment and accreditation of study programmes at further and Higher Education level. QADS has been established by the Defence and International Security Institute’s Board of Founders as a non-profit members supported sub-agency of DISI.
The mission of the Centre is to promote quality in education and training in the fields related to Aerospace, Defence and Security and thereby increase the employability of graduates and strengthen their competitiveness in the labour market.
The QADS is operating as a self-regulating autonomous agency of DISI that assures the quality in education and training in Aerospace, Defence and Security sectors (ADS) through the assessment and accreditation of study programmes. It is independent in determining its principles, procedures and methodology for quality assurance, as well as in adopting its assessment and accreditation decisions.
QADS Centre assessment ensures that a provider programme meets the quality standards of the profession for which that programme prepares graduates. We provide specialised assessment and accreditation for non-degree as well as for degree programmes offered by institutions already recognised by national or regional accreditation bodies or national educational authorities worldwide. Our assessment and accreditation is voluntary. QADS’ Centre accreditation is an award of a quality seal for a study programme in the ADS related field after a successful assessment process and affirmative accreditation decision.
The QADS Centre serves and supports the interests and activities of DISI’s over 30 Expert Groups. Representing a significant number of professionals around the world, these Expert Groups nominate representatives to a Board of Delegates, the QADS’ Centre governing body which sets policy, develops strategy and approve QADS’ Centre accreditation standards and procedures worldwide on behalf of their respective professions.
